Custodianship Declaration — Notarized Online
A legal document appointing a temporary guardian for an international student studying in Canada, signed over a secure video call.
International students who are minors are usually required by their school board or the Canadian government to have a designated custodian in Canada — someone who can act in place of a parent for day-to-day and emergency decisions while the student is here.
Both the custodian and, where required, the parent, can join the video appointment (from different locations if needed) to sign the declaration. The commissioner verifies photo ID for each signer and applies the seal.
Notarized in accordance with O. Reg. 431/20. We do not advise on custodianship requirements for a specific school board or immigration application — check with the school or IRCC for their exact requirements.
