Questions People Ask
Can I get a document notarized online in Ontario?
Yes. Affidavits, statutory declarations, consent letters and many other documents can be commissioned over a secure video call under Ontario Regulation 431/20. You sign on screen while your commissioner watches, and the completed document is emailed to you.
Do I need to be in Ontario?
No. You can join the video call from any province or country. Whether the receiving office accepts your document is up to that office, so check with them if you are unsure.
How much does it cost?
A standard document is $39.95 plus HST, and each additional document in the same appointment is $30.95. There is no extra charge for additional signers. See Pricing & Fees for divorce agreements, powers of attorney and wills.
How long does an appointment take?
Most appointments take around 10 minutes, depending on the document. Your completed document usually arrives by email within minutes after the call.
What can’t be done online?
Certified true copies and some other notarial acts need an in-person appointment. Mobile visits are available in the GTA by prior appointment.
Do you prepare or review my document?
No. You prepare the document and we commission it as written. We verify your identity and witness your signature, but we do not give legal advice.
