A sworn statement confirming a student’s Indigenous identity, for grants and bursaries that require it.

Some grants and bursaries are set aside for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students, and the funding body may ask for a sworn declaration of identity as part of the application.

The appointment is private and handled with respect. You join from home, show your photo ID, confirm the contents of the affidavit under oath or affirmation, and sign while the commissioner watches.

Commissioned in accordance with O. Reg. 431/20. We do not assess eligibility; questions about a specific grant should go to the funding body or your school.
