Principal Residence Attestation — Notarized Online
A sworn statement confirming that a property is your primary home, for tax or legal purposes, made over a secure video call.
Whether a property counts as your principal residence can matter for tax treatment, for certain applications, and for some insurance or mortgage paperwork. When a form asks you to swear that a property is your primary home, this is the attestation it means.
Bring the attestation unsigned. The commissioner verifies your photo ID, witnesses your signature, and applies the seal.
Commissioned in accordance with O. Reg. 431/20. We do not advise on what qualifies as a principal residence under tax rules (an accountant or the relevant agency can answer that), and we cannot verify the statement you are swearing to.
Principal Residence Attestation FAQ
Can you tell me whether my property qualifies?
No. We witness your sworn statement. Whether the property qualifies is a question for an accountant or the agency involved.
Who needs to sign?
The person swearing the property is their principal residence. Some forms need every owner to sign.
Can this be signed online?
